• Bronwen Thomas has produced hand-drawn maps and illustrations in her professional capacity for many years. She finds that this is a good method to convey character and atmosphere, and can give emphasis where required. This has led to the development of specific styles, usually based on line drawings with colour washes. The use of birds’ eye views in particular has proved to be an excellent way to graphically put across concepts and information about the landscape and built environment, and express sense of place.

Bronwen Thomas’ illustrations are founded on thorough knowledge and appreciation of the landscape, gained by visits, research and observations. They are individually tailored to fit the purpose, whether simple pared-down lines and shapes for robust outdoor interpretation panels, for instance, or intricate small-scale drawings for publications.
